Zavala

A picturesque village on the island of Hvar. Zavala is on the south side of Hvar and is approximately 20km away from Hvar town. By car from Zavala to Hvar town it is about 35 km. Zavala is about 7 km from Jelsa and about 18 km away from Stari Grad. Zavala is the warmest and sunniest place on the island of Hvar and ideal for a quiet and relaxing holiday.

Zavala, a small place for a nice relaxing holiday on Hvar. Vacation in Zavala on Hvar means rest, relaxation, beach and bathing! Zavala is suitable for almost all ages, from young couples to families with children and seniors. For families with children is the best vacation / holiday season (mid-June to late August). Seniors often do in May and September and October holidays on Hvar, this time is ideal for hiking and especially May on Hvar is beautiful when everything blooms.

The resort Zavala is on the open sea-facing south side of of Hvar. Zavala has some beautiful beaches, they are among the most beautiful beaches on the island of Hvar. You can still enjoy the holiday in peace and quiet of nature, as in the idyllic fishing village, there are no hotels and no mass tourism. Zavala's attractiveness for tourists, has had an impact in recent years on the demand so there in July and August is no longer so quiet, such as in May, June, September & October. Who in his vacation value on peaceful places and arriving without children, should avoid the July & August. Whereas for families with children, especially those months for a holiday on Hvar are very interesting because the children (5 - 15 years) very common find fast friends and playmates on the beach.

An approximately 1.4 km tunnel is linking Zavala with the north side of the island of Hvar.

Since 2004, a gravel road leads over the mountain from Pitve to Zavala. (Perfect terrain for demanding mountain bikers.) Thus, the tunnel is not the only connection between Zavala and Pitve. [But with a normal car or caravan, it is not advisable to use the gravel road o'er mountain drive!] SUV owners should drive up the gravel road quiet times, also it is a paradise for hikers. You will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the entire archipelago .
